Today on Feminine Roadmap Gina and her guest Diane Sherry Case talk about using creative writing as therapy, a way to alleviate stress and anxiety. During times of uncertainty creative writing is a way to release the thoughts and feelings that are caught in your mind and Diane believes that when you put pen to paper you can begin to release those negative or challenging emotions in a helpful, healthy way. She has created a curriculum of prompts and exercises that can be used to start the journey of therapeutic writing to guide writers who may feel unsure of where or how to begin. Dian’s goal is to help people tap into their innate ability to communicate through writing in a way that is soulful, uplifting and connecting. A few of the ideas she introduces are listing colors and writing about how color makes you feel, writing out the soundtrack of your life- those songs that represent different periods of your life and express what bubbles up, write a dialogue with your inner critic and yourself, or just write whatever words come to mind without thinking about making sense. If you find yourself feeling mentally and emotionally cluttered, grab a journal and a pen so you can write down which ideas Diane shares that resonate with you. The challenge is to only write 5-10 minutes a day so you can feel less stressed and more at peace – there’s no better time than the present! http://www.feminineroadmap.com/episode170/
